About

Making reasonable adjustments is one of the most important, and often most misunderstood, responsibilities managers face. Many managers are unsure what the law requires, lack confidence in discussing disability and health conditions, or worry about making the wrong decision. Yet getting it right can improve employee wellbeing, retention, productivity, and performance, while helping organisations meet their legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010. This practical, manager-focused training module provides the knowledge, confidence, and tools needed to identify, assess, implement, and review reasonable adjustments effectively. Learners will gain a clear understanding of disability law, workplace barriers, reasonable adjustments, discrimination risks, and the responsibilities placed on employers and managers. The module goes beyond legal theory, providing practical frameworks, decision-making tools, implementation guidance, templates, checklists, and real-world examples that managers can apply immediately. Learners will develop the skills to hold effective conversations, assess what is reasonable, document decisions appropriately, work effectively with Occupational Health, and access external sources of support and funding. Real Employment Tribunal cases are used throughout the programme to demonstrate how the law is applied in practice, highlighting common mistakes, successful approaches, and the lessons managers can take into their own workplaces. Designed for managers, team leaders, and anyone responsible for supporting employees, this course translates complex legislation into clear, practical actions. By the end of the programme, learners will be equipped to make informed, confident decisions, support employees fairly, reduce organisational risk, and create a more inclusive and productive workplace.
